Ways to Save Money on Your Wedding – Day 1

As we start to get ready for our upcoming busy Wedding and Events season, we want to make sure that we discuss the importance of budget and ways that you can save money when planning your Wedding and Reception. Weddings can be very expensive. There are so many different aspects that go into planning a wedding and so many items that need to be accounted for in order to bring everything together. DO NOT worry, there are ways that you can cut costs without missing out on the Wedding of your dreams.

Wedding and Reception: When couples get engaged, the first two things that they want to lock down is their wedding date and the venue that they will hold their Ceremony and Reception. If you are considering having your Wedding during the high wedding season, think again. Having your Wedding between the months of April and September are going to be costly when choosing a venue. This is the busiest times for venues, and their prices are going to be at the highest. Consider having your Ceremony and Reception during the off-peak months. In the end, you are going to save THOUSANDS, but still have an AMAZING Wedding! Holding your ceremony and reception in the same location will also cut down the cost of your wedding. If you are going to have your ceremony at a different location than where the reception will take place, this will increase the cost of travel for your vendors and their pay per hour. You will also need to take into consideration how you are going to get most of your guests from the ceremony location to the reception location. While most of them may have their own means of transportation, there will also be a lot of out of town guests attending the wedding.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to contract with a venue on your selected Wedding date and finalize the guest list before sending out your Save The Dates. This will cut out any extra costs if you need to change your date due to the venue of your choice already being booked for the specific date.

Decor: When it comes to decor, this is where people tend to spend a lot of money on unnecessary items. One shopping tip is to shop in the off-season of certain holidays. Typically the day after specific traditional holidays, a lot of decor will go on sale. This will allow you to stock up on much needed vases and table decor items.

Do you have your heart set on a particular flower? Make sure to keep your options open when it comes to selecting the flowers for your centerpieces and various decor. Peonies are a widely popular wedding flower, but can also be very very costly. You may want to consider roses. They are going to be far less expensive. Another great tip for centerpieces to cut down the flower cost is to consider other decor options. A lot of weddings that we have done in the last year have been incorporating different decor items for their centerpieces, with minimal flowers, such as lanterns, glass vases with rocks and floating candles, birdcages, etc.
