Romantic Garden Getaway!

Working in collaboration with Perfect The Event, Event Planning Services, we were honored to be part of Patrick and Caitlin’s gorgeous wedding and reception at the San Diego Botanical Garden! The event was a whirlwind of twinkling market lights, fantastic vendor cooperation, and watching the guests dance the night away.

To start the day off, Patrick and Caitlin waited anxiously for their private First Look at each other. Michelle Flores Photography expertly captured this tender moment!

Bride and Groom First Look

The First Look with Michelle Flores Photography stole our hearts!

The Walled Garden is tucked away from visitors of the Botanical garden, offering a secluded and beautiful spot for intimate wedding ceremonies. Mulberry & Moss decorated the space for the ceremony using romantic bundles of white flowers greenery to match the surrounding natural beauty of the park.

Everyone cheered for the happy couple as they walked back down the aisle as Husband and Wife. Our favorite part of the ceremony is this “I Do” Glow on their faces!

While the newlyweds and bridal party finished up their photoshoot, guests made their way down to the reception area for our signature craft cocktails and fresh appetizers made on-site!

The Gazebo Garden offers plenty of outdoor space for a larger guest count, plus all of the happy couple’s favorite food stations that we offer! Offering their guests “the works,” we had the pleasure of offering several food stations at cocktail hour during dinner service.

Guests got their fill of our delicious Taco Bar, extensive Salad Station, savory Trip-Tip station, and deluxe–made-to-order–Pasta Station! No matter the food preferences or dietary restrictions, we made sure there was plenty for everyone.

After dinner, Soundwave Productions kept the dance floor grooving, and Susie Cakes shared their tasty treats with the crowd! As the guests partied the night away, the newlyweds enjoyed dancing with everyone under the stars.

We’re so happy for these lovebirds and wish them all the best in their bright future together!

How to Host the Perfect Party

Our Experts Recommend These 3 Key Steps!

Now that certain areas of the country are reopening–hopefully for good this time–are you in the midst of picking out a professional San Diego Party Catering company? Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve missed so many celebrations of big milestone events. We all miss getting together, but the elephant in the room lingers, and you wonder, “will parties ever be the same?”

We’ve got you covered. You’re likely hoping that your event will help ease your guests into both a safe and “normal” feeling gathering. This is where a reliable and time-tested San Diego Party Catering company can make all the difference. By choosing an experienced and trusted company, your food and beverage menu will be sure to please all the guests present at your party. Plus, their dedication to the safety and wellness of your guests is sure to shine through. Here are a couple of tips to remember when planning your perfect party and finding your ideal caterer nowadays.

Step 1: Don’t Forget To Count Heads!

When deciding upon catering providers and selecting the menu, estimate the guest count that you expect will attend your big event. This way, you can prepare for various options that are sure to please the crowd. Your caterer will help you properly estimate your headcount and explain how to account for any family or guests who confirm very close to the event. By hiring a company with extensive experience, your catering team will make the best menu recommendations to accommodate your entire party.

Step 2: Know Your Budget

You may likely have a designated budget set aside for catering services. If you have a general understanding of your budget, that will help you identify the best San Diego Party Catering company within your price range. It will be useful to share your budget with each vendor so that every creative opportunity can be expanded upon within your set parameters. Depending on your preferences, you may want the dining to be casual and light fare. Or, you may want a grand meal that is the centerpiece of your entire event. A great catering company will help you make this determination and review all the available choices.

Step 3: Consider The Entire Package

Beyond catering services, a proficient catering company can custom build an entire event package that best fits your needs. For example, you may benefit from an all-inclusive package covering all the details like linens, china, and décor. Your caterer of choice may be well connected within the industry. They can help you make advantageous connections with other vendors that are high in demand. By helping you easily assemble your entire event team, narrowing down all your services at once, your caterer will bring value far beyond the delicious meal itself.

5 Tips For Perfecting Your Family Holiday Party

guests at san diego family holiday party

The end of the year often means get-togethers with extended family to celebrate. As a result, you may find yourself hosting one or more parties within the next few months. If so, how can you ensure that the event you host runs well? Check out these five tips for hosting the perfect family holiday party this season.

1) Invite Your Family With Advance Notice

To make sure your family knows that you are hosting a holiday party, invitations are critical. Otherwise, they may make other arrangements, or plan a similar party on the same day. For your invitations, it is best to have a confirmation feature. This way, you know who will be in attendance.

Also, give your guests the option to note any dietary restrictions. Remember to include an “RSVP” by date so you can meet all necessary accommodations. By coordinating with family ahead of time, it will help build momentum for your party. It will also ensure that all calendars are marked appropriately.

2) Accommodate for All Ages

One of the biggest challenges of coordinating a family party is planning for a variety of ages. The age range of your guests can affect several key decisions. For example, it can determine whether you will have alcohol at the party, and how to serve it. Also, it can affect meal decisions. This is because children have different eating habits than adults. Therefore, it is important to bring on a San Diego holiday party caterer with menus that appeal to all your guests.

If you are planning to have games, you will want to ensure that they are family-friendly. Or, consider having holiday-themed music in the background for guests to dance to. If you want to plan something more structured, plan to play limbo or freeze dance. To encourage guests to get involved, give prizes for winners. Prizes are a great way to get guests of all ages excited to take part.

3) Be Flexible About Your Family Holiday Party

It can be easy to want things to go a certain way when planning a party. This can mean wanting everyone to take part in an activity or stick to a time schedule. Yet, as mentioned above, family parties often include people of many ages. As a result, it is likely that your family will want different activities, geared towards their specific interests.

To accommodate, it is best to keep most activities unstructured. This will allow you, as the party host, to enjoy things at your leisure without feeling like a cruise director. For example, consider having tables set up ahead of time. These could be loaded with coloring books, or take-home crafts for the kids. Tables can also have games for small groups to play together. This will allow your guests to interact and spend time with each other. Some guests may decide they prefer to sit around and be social. But children will likely need activities so they stay busy and engaged.

4) Ensure There Is Room For Everyone

With all of these activities, you will need to have plenty of space. This is why a proper guest count is so important. It will help you figure out whether you should hold your function at home, or at a holiday party venue, for example. By ensuring you have plenty of space, everyone will be able to get along and enjoy all of the holiday festivities.

If space is a limitation, or you have an especially social group, you may decide not to have a seated meal. Instead, you may want to set up appetizer stations. This will allow people to eat as they please while they mingle.

5) Eliminate Stress At Your Family Holiday Party

Even without planning a holiday party, the holidays can be overwhelming at times! If you do intend to host a party, allow plenty of time to prepare. It is ideal to keep a checklist to make sure you take account for all aspects of your party. This will ensure you budget your time to avoid last minute preparations. To reduce some of the stress, it can help to co-host or to use professional event services that your caterer recommends or provides directly.

Regardless of all preparations, the hours leading up to party can be the most hectic. This is because hosts want to please their guests. They feel the need to ensure everything is running well. As a result, they may spend most of the party time multi-tasking. This can lead to you being your feet the entire time, without a moment to rest.

Ultimately, it is crucial that you enjoy the party as well. Managing your stress level as a host is important, as it can easily affect party guests. For example, your family members may not be able to enjoy themselves if they see you are solving problems and running from room to room. But, if they see you relaxing and socializing, they will be more likely to follow suit.

When planning your party, make decisions that enable you to take a step back, and to enjoy the family bonding. For example, consider opting for a catering company that provides a wait staff for your party. This will offload much of the work, giving you the opportunity to mix and mingle!

Recommendations for Your San Diego Catering Company Menu

a venue where we prepare our san diego catering company menuSan Diego Catering Company Menu Ideas and Tips

In order for an event to be great, it must have amazing catering! One way to ensure your catering stands out is by working with an experienced and skilled caterer. With a top event professional like Personal Touch Dining, your menu will be perfectly aligned with the theme of the event, number of guests, and season in which the event takes place. We will use freshly sourced ingredients and time-tested recipes to prepare an exceptional menu without any compromises. At each and every event, we work hard to ensure that we are the Best San Diego Catering Company.

Having been in this industry for many years, we have seen common mistakes made which we help our clients to avoid. Here are just a few of the recommendations we make when catering for an event.

Schedule Planning

As exceptional as the menu may be, what is also important with catering is that everything is ready on time. This includes cocktail hors d’oeuvres, your main course or buffet, and even your late night snack. Whether your party is large or small, we are able to have everyone served and seated fairly quickly, and always arrange a sufficient window for the food service so that there is no rush. We always want to set up the meal according to the day’s timeline so that the courses are hot and fresh, and we will help with our best recommendations.

Dietary Restrictions

When catering for a large group, it is important to choose a menu that is sure to please most attendees. However, it is possible that some of your attendees may have dietary restrictions or preferences. As the host, it is a good idea to have alternate selections, so that your guests feel right at home. For example, if you are having chicken or beef as your main course, it is nice to have a tasty vegetarian option such as pasta or risotto. You can plan for special meal considerations by having a variety of dishes in your catering menu. Or, you can include a box on your RSVP card to ask guests in advance which meal they prefer, which is common practice.

Plentiful Meals

Often times, the guest count is not finalized until shortly before the event date. For example, some guests may wait until the last minute to confirm. Therefore, it is beneficial to plan for extra attendees, with the expectation that you may need the flexibility in your meal service. Having catered hundreds of events throughout the years, we help our clients prepare in advance, and anticipate the number of meals they will need for the event itself. This ensures that there is plenty of food for all, and that guests are happy and content.

Ingredients

When you are hiring a catering service, you my have certain ingredients that you love, or would prefer to stay away from. For example, if avocados are your favorite food, we can get creative with a spicy guacamole or tuna tartar. Or, if you have an allergy or aversion to certain foods, share this with us so we can plan accordingly. Similarly, if your guests have a food sensitivity, let us know in advance so we can prepare ingredient cards for display, or make special accommodations. We want to make sure that you and your guests are well taken care of!

These photos from Michelle and Thomas’ wedding at the Flower Fields are amazing! They chose a rustic theme that matched this venue perfectly. We love how cohesive the tables looked with fruitwood chairs, wooden table numbers and burlap table runners on top of white linens. Cute flower arrangements decorated the dining tables and added the perfect finishing touches.
