In admiration of our United States Armed Forces we would like to recognize an incredible venue, the Corky McMillin Companies Event Center on the former Naval Training Center in San Diego. This beautiful event hall is perfect for weddings, large meetings, and galas. Not only is the venue gorgeous on the inside, the outdoor view overlooking Luce Court and Legacy Plaza’s rose gardens, fountain, and palm trees is simply breathtaking. When paired together, the McMillin Center and Plaza are perfect for any event in San Diego. Personal Touch Dining enjoys working weddings and the recent SOS Entertainment Mock Prom at this venue. We are always impressed by the elegance of the hall and friendly staff.

It is always our pleasure to cater at the Ultimate Skybox located on the top floor of the tower. After exiting the elevator, you walk into a spacious room with wood floors and all glass doors looking out on the Coronado Bridge and the San Diego Skyline. During events, the doors slide open leaving a clear walkway between the balcony and seating area. As the night goes on, the sunset intensifies the gorgeous view of San Diego’s finest and it becomes simply breathtaking. Personal Touch dining is lucky to have the opportunity to cater events and weddings at this divine location.
These are some of our favorite photos of Tracy and Jordan’s wedding in 2013. ABM Photography captured the majestic sunset and beauty this venue has to offer perfectly!

We are excited to finally share Abra and Gerhard’s photos from their wedding this past summer on June 28. It was a gorgeous evening at the Ranch at Bandy Canyon in Escondido and the couple was absolutely stunning. Their woodsy, yet chic wedding was a night to remember as it was filled with laughter, toasts, and dancing to celebrate the newlyweds. Personal Touch Dining enjoyed working with the couple throughout the planning process and loved to see it all come together. Congratulations! We wish you two the best!

While you probably know everyone at your wedding, seeing as you invited them, you might not know how they act at weddings. There are seven lucky guests who get a name to their personalities when it comes to attending your wedding. If you cannot predict who it will be now, just have your eye open on the big day to see who falls under each category.
As the wedding planning progresses and the day both of you have been waiting for is just weeks or days away, the final details all fall in place. You have the headcount, the linens, the centerpieces, the flowers, the caterer, the DJ, and the venue coordinated, but as the date nears your writer’s block begins. That is why we put together a few tips and tricks to craft the perfect, heartwarming vows.
As you start to brainstorm for your vows, start by writing down why you will be standing across from him or her on your wedding day. Reminisce on your favorite moments together whether they are humorous or sentimental; fill the paper with the best memories in the past. Then jot down some notes about your future together; include growing old together, waking up every morning next to each other, any promises you want to make, and of course, how much your love with continue to grow as it has since you two met. Have your words written down so you can refer to a concrete list, later adding your personal romantic or funny touch to it.
Now that you have the foundation, it is time to start romanticizing them into the actual vows. It is up to you to create the mood of the vows just make sure it represents your relationship and personalities. If it is short and sweet, then go for it. If it is funny, who doesn’t like to laugh? And if it is meant to have the guests grabbing their Kleenex, by all means say it. This is a moment to not only tell the man or woman standing across from you your vows, but let the witnesses of your marriage know as well.
If you are still coping with the stress of writing vows, take a deep breath and hop on Google There are hundreds of vows that you can add your own twist to. Look at what other couples vow because they can take the words out of your mouth and write them perfectly.
Sure, you might not be another Jane Austen or Nicholas Sparks when it comes to vows, but chances are your fiancé already knows that. Your vows are worth more than any famous author’s fancy words just because they are coming from you.

Haley and Richard celebrated their special day at the Mt. Woodson Castle on Memorial Day weekend!
Summer is always the peak of wedding season for us vendors, and we know exactly why! With the weather noticeably warmer and the sun shining bright outside, you can’t really go wrong with celebrating your big day during the peak summer months! Unfortunately, there always comes that one pesky day that it is unbearably hot, humid, dry, etc.; so here are some key things to do, in order to keep your cool on your wedding day this summer!
1. Do… plan your ceremony either in the morning, or later after noon.
Having a ceremony that is scheduled during the high point of the sun can be brutal for you and your guests. Many of our Brides have opted for later ceremonies to avoid the direct heat during the sharing of nuptials. Another option, which has become quite popular, is to have a morning event. Head down the aisle when it is still nice and cool outside, and follow up with a fun brunch themed reception!
2. Do… order extra boutonnieres for the bridal party.
Although the sun is proven to give us a natural glow and boost our energy levels, it does quite the opposite to our flowers. The heat, more likely than not, will wilt those precious personal flowers that you had specially made for your groom and his groomsmen. So, plan ahead and make sure you have some back-ups just in case!
3. Do… provide shade for your friends and family.
Having an all outdoor wedding? A decorative and easy way to provide shade for your loved ones is by using simple patio umbrellas (You can typically order these for a good price from your rental company). A few scattered umbrellas are a perfect way to sneak away from the summer heat to avoid your guests sweltering in the sun!
4. Do… have an escape from the heat.
A few simple ideas can include providing customized fans with thank you notes printed on them to your guests, or even having cold towelettes passed around during cocktail hour for your guests to cool off with!
5. Do… wear a good sunscreen!
Let’s not put the saying “blushing bride” into literal terms… Enough said?
6. Do…have plenty of refreshments (non-alcoholic) for guests.
An easy way to make sure everyone is staying hydrated this summer is to set up a pre-ceremony beverage station with some fun drinks for guests to rehydrate with, but let’s not forget the water as well! Setting up a beverage station that is away from the bar will help guests stay hydrated and feeling refreshed without having to stand in line at the bar to simply get a glass of water.
7. Do… Dress comfortably!
It’s your big day, and the last thing you want is to be feeling uncomfortable in your wedding gown. If you already have your dress picked out, think about the option of having a wardrobe change. After the ceremony you could slip into something a bit more comfortable to make sure you stay cool and comfortable to enjoy the rest of your wedding day!
